TLHD Board of Directors

CHAMPIONS OF COMMUNITY CONNECTION. Our Board of Directors are a dynamic team of leaders whose unwavering commitment propels our organization to new heights. This diverse group of individuals are deeply rooted in our community and united by a shared love for our mission. Our Board Members are the guardians of our Organization’s mission and values, and they bring a wealth of experience, talent, and enthusiasm to TLHD. Their collaborative efforts enhance our community and steer us toward a sustainable future where excellence in the arts enriches the lives of all who engage with our work.

Katie Eiser,

Board President

Katie has been a member of the board since 2020. She was raised in Alexandria and currently lives in Minneapolis (by way of Louisville, Kentucky and New York). Katie has a BA in communications journalism from the University of St. Thomas and is employed by CCF (formerly Clarity Coverdale Fury), an advertising agency. She has volunteered with Minnesota Opera (Tempo), Kentucky Opera (YPOP), and the Minneapolis Institute of Art (Friends of the Institute).

As an avid theater goer, Katie is thrilled to serve on the THLD Board. In her spare time she enjoys running, the live music scene, theater and opera performances, visiting local breweries, cooking, baking, and in true Minnesotan fashion, competing in the State Fair’s baked goods division. And in the summer she’s at the cabin enjoying the lake with her family and friends.

Philip Eidsvold, Vice President /

Secretary

Phil has been a member of the board since 2020 and has been a TLHD super fan for over 35 years! And during that time, his passion for the organization has grown immensely. He served on TLHD’s Board of Directors from 2011-2020 and as chair of the Board from 2016-2018. Phil earned his BA in Organizational Communications and French from Gustavus Adolphus College where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Professionally, Phil is a VP at One10, a full service performance improvement and events agency in Minneapolis. A resident of Edina, Philip lives with his Partner Ty Baucum and his amazing Golden Retriever, Grace Louise. Other volunteer positions include acting as the Board Chair for the National Lutheran Choir. In the summer, you’re likely to catch Phil and Ty enjoying the chain of lakes in Alexandria.

Terri Bursch,

Treasurer

Terri has been a member of the TLHD board since 2020. She has lived in Alexandria since 1991 and shares in the ownership of Bursch Travel where she has had a role in management since 2012. Terri has a nursing degree and worked as a Regional Vice President at Portamedic for 32 years, responsible for financial management, sales growth, quality and service levels. Portamedic provided in-home medical exams for consumers applying for life insurance policies.

Terri is currently Vice-Chair of the Knute Nelson Foundation Board, a member of Lakes Area Professional Women and a committee member for several local organizations. She loves everything our beautiful lakes area offers - the theater, boating, paddle boarding, golfing, snow shoeing, walking and biking the trails, as well as enjoying time and a glass of wine with friends!

Mark Manbeck, Incoming Treasurer

Mark has been a member of the board since 2023. After graduating Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa with a B.A. in Business Administration and Economics, he embarked on a 40-year career with Wayzata based TCF National Bank. Mark’s banking focus was Commercial Real Estate finance and overseeing the bank’s Private Banking division. Mark has served on the boards of two national nonprofit organizations, was an 8-year Commissioner for the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority and served in advisory roles for the Hennepin Theatre Trust and the Frank Theater.

Mark particularly enjoys all that the Lakes Area has to offer during the short, but activity-packed summers. Mark and his partner have three dogs, Luther, Schneider and Rainy, all of whom enjoy spending as much time on water as possible at their Maple Lake home.

Other areas of interest include biking, entertaining and keeping up with cultural events.

Deb Trumm

Deb Trumm has been a member of the board since 2019. She came to Alexandria over thirty years ago after she met Alexandria’s most eligible bachelor.  The Trumm family and the lakes area were a big draw, and she is happy to be here today.  Deb’s interests include family, stories, music, arts, and education. She has been involved with the planning of the Community Education’s film studies in Alexandria and the Friends of the Library Community Read for many years.  She served on the Friends of the Library Board and the West Central Chapter of the U of MN Alumni Board.

Deb loves visiting Art Museums and participated in the Masterpiece Art Program in the Alexandria schools for 20 years.  Deb hopes to bring fresh ideas and creative solutions to the theatre’s priorities with her local insights.

Michael Tisserand

Michael has been a member of the board since 2022. Raised in Alexandria, he was active in local theater and radio before graduating from the University of Minnesota and moving to New Orleans. There, he served as editor of the weekly newspaper Gambit and has penned four books, including the ASCAP-Deems Taylor Award-winning music book The Kingdom of Zydeco and the Hurricane Katrina memoir Sugarcane Academy. Michael’s biography of the cartoonist George “Krazy Kat” Herriman received the Eisner Award and was named a notable book by The New York Times.

Michael returned to Alexandria in 2022 and, along with enjoying regular dog walks up Inspiration Peak and learning to tap maple trees, he is excited to join the board and support the rich and varied theater, music and cultural offerings he has long enjoyed at Theatre L’homme Dieu.

Kathy Grundei

Kathy has been a part-time resident of Alexandria since 1987. In 2015 Kathy opened Artscape Studio for creating and selling her art. Her areas of interest include abstract and realistic styles using collage, mixed media and watercolor.
