The Sandlot

Set in 1962, a group of fifth graders engage in pickup games of baseball on a neighborhood sandlot, where they encounter a giant mastiff called “The Beast,” destroy a ball signed by Babe Ruth, and are befriended by a blind former baseball star (played by James Earl Jones).

Its most famous line is “You’re killing me, Smalls!” referring to outfielder Scotty Smalls, who went on to become a Dodger sportscaster.

Many refer to The Sandlot as a summer version of A Christmas Story.
